The two-component solvent-free adhesives are supplied as two separate components and mixed before application followed by a cure. The two components are called the prepolymer and the curing agent. The two-component adhesive is solvent-free or solventless.
The solventless two components adhesive comprises oligomers having a relatively high molecular weight. The two-component solvent-free adhesive composition may comprise a combination of relatively high molecular weight oligomers having different molecular weights. In this way, the solvent-free two-component adhesive can have a first oligomer.
The solvent-free two components adhesive typically has a solids content of 100%, or 100% solid content solvent-free adhesive, the molecular weight of the oligomer should be such that, when combined with other adhesive ingredients, the viscosity is not so high for the application without any significant amount or amount of solvent.
The solvent-free two-component adhesive is applied with any type of substrate to create a laminated structure, and laminated structures made with or comprising two-component solvent-free adhesives are with the scope, such as bonding materials for flexible laminated packaging.
